Training & Research Unit (TRU)
Background
Past project experiences have encouraged Al-Hayat to increasingly use research and trainings as tools to inform and build the capacity of projects’ teams and young activists so they can approach their issues and initiatives in an effective manner. Specifically, Al-Hayat has realized the critical need to develop young Jordanians’ different skills, as well as general project management skills including strategic planning, networking, conducting needs assessments, Results-Based Management (RBM) strategies, monitoring & evaluation, and sustainability & Fundraising, advocacy and lobbying, etc). Al-Hayat has further realized the importance of incorporating preliminary research, both quantitative and qualitative, into its project timelines to better inform the project design, action and target group. Thus, Al-Hayat in assistant with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs has established the TRU in 2010, as part of Al-Hayat center, but with independence financial and administrative management. The idea of establishing the TRU unit is to enhance the work of Al-Hayat Center and other organizations’ Programs and projects. In addition to contribute to the sustainability of Al-Hayat Center through the generated income out of its activities.
Financial and Administrative Management
As per Al-Hayat internal policy the TRU is financially and administratively independent; has separate bank account, separate financial budget and has independent management. The income generated out of the unit’s activities is used to fund Al-Hayat different activities, and to cover the project sharing when necessary.
