The aim of the Arab Initiative of Equitable Budget project was to enhance civil society and business sector’s involvement in drafting the state's general budget. The objectives of the project were to raise awareness of civil society and private sector organizations on how the fiscal budget is developed, through conducting awareness workshops in the coalition countries of Jordan, Lebanon, and Yemen. Other objectives were to raise awareness about the importance of public participation in fiscal budgeting for local government, municipalities, local councils, relevant government officials and parliament members. This was achieved through a number of focus groups, providing more access to information related to budgeting processes through publications and ongoing website updates, and informing citizens on results of Parliament budgeting hearing sessions through a number of press releases.
This project was implemented by Partners-Jordan as a leader organization, where Al Hayat Center acted as a local partner.
